it has taken me most of the day to convert the math in the paper into
source code, but its done, and it works. its really excellent. check
out: www.korf.co.uk/spline.pdf for more info. time to integrate my
test Curve object back into ardour.

note that i tried to find information on cardinal splines, which
sounded promising, but i think that this constrained spline approach
is actually more correct that using any time of natural spline,
bezier, cardinal or hermite.

you JAMin folks might be interested in this too, but let me check on
its RTness first :)
