I use 1394 with Ardour today. I have 1394 audio drives. I am working with a friend on the ability to send audio and MIDI over 1394 via Jack, which would be usable by Ardour. What ideas are you interested in pursuing? My idea (wish) is to use ardour on a stable linuxOS like suse8.0 ort debian with such a pro interface thru a standard firewire compatible card with ohci1394 technology. Maybe it is possible thru the alsa drivers, but i really don´t know.
