Almost gave up, but the last time under KDE I lade down a couple of tracks and was blown away at the quality of the sound. I'm now determined to get this thing working. Here's the info: 950 AMD processor, 256 RAM, Via chipset, Delta 66 Omni i/o studio. Starting Jack in the terminal message states "starting engine." I then get latency readings but nothing more. Is this right? When attempting to start Ardour in IceWM nothing happens. In Gnome terminal dies, no Ardour. In KDE X dies and I have to log back in. The one time it worked in KDE was when I had forgotten to install Kickarts and Arts was running. I can't seem to get Kickarts to start either. Any suggestions? Thanks!
