Message-Id: <200310101106.h9AB6WBb017206@cc.oulu.fi> From: Jussi Kantola <Jussi.Kantola@Oulu.Fi> Subject: [Ardour-users] successful install on ibm thinkpad t21 Date: Fri, 10 Oct 2003 14:06:32 +0300 (EEST) greetings everyone, happy to be at this point, finally installed a working copy of ardour. it feels good after years of following the progress of this project from afar. i hope to be of some small availability in improving this promising developement -- like for so many, ardour was the last significant tool i'm missing in linux. i'm running ardour on a ibm thinkpad t21 with an integrated cs46xx sound chip and a slightly upgraded redhat9 with linux-2.4.22 and alsa 0.9.7. i installed from the first pre-1.0 tarball, and while getting through ./configure took me at least half a dozen external library installations, the compilation finally finished without warnings. since then i've mainly played around with the bells and whistles (and of course the highly efficient LADSPA plugins :)) and have so far witnessed just a singular ardour crash. i come from an sf-acid background so it's taking me some little time to get adjusted, but ardour seems more than worth the trouble. thank you, dear developers. as i'm somewhat a programmer myself, even having some background in the area of sound software, i might eventually contribute something concrete. for now i'll just try to be an active user. -- jussi ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program.
