Subject: [Ardour-users] hardware recommendations / performance bottlenecks
Date: Fri, 10 Oct 2003 17:27:38 -0400
Hi,
I've been playing with Ardour and so far I really like it. Right now
I'm using a very cheap mic with my Sound Blaster Live! card. I can
currently only record two channels at a time, and was wondering if
anyone has a recommendation on some hardware that would enable recording
four channels at a time. I don't need anything really professional.
Also, I have a AMD Athlon 2600 XP and my harddrive is a 7200 IDE. Would
the performance bottleneck likely be my processor or my harddrive?
Also, is it possible/a good idea to make a ramdrive and record to that?
I'm running a stock 2.4.22 kernel, but am planning on applying the low
latency patches it to get better performance.
