Hi Michel,
A couple of things . If you are not running as root then you need to run 
'jackstart' instead of 'jackd'.
You said your kernel has low latency capabilities . If this means Andrew 
Mortons low latency patch is applied and 'on' , plus it has a 
'capabilities' patch then jackstart -R  should work.
Try -d hw:0 instead of --d ice1712. -d ice1712 is OK only if you have 
set up a suitable asound.rc file.
Also you might like to try qjackctl.

It makes getting JACK going, and connected much easier :)

You may also need to upgrade JACK.. I'm not sure if  0.75.0 is 
compatible with that version of ardour. I'm running 
jack-audio-connection-kit-0.83.4-1 with ardour-0.9beta5-1 and these work 
well together.
Sounds like youve got a pretty nice setup tho... Ive got the C-port 
myself and I'm envious of those  balanced inputs you have :)
