Ardour is heading towards a stable release, so I imagine each release
should have less bugs/be more stable. I was using ardour from cvs over
the weekend and it seemed fine.

This seems to work for me. Did you select "create multi-channel region" in
the import dialogue/audio library? and then insert that region in a stereo
track?

There are templates. I'm not sure how to use them sorry.

Yes you can change the key bindings in the options window under kbd/mouse.
To delete a plugin from a mixer strip it should be

"delete using" x "+ button" y

with x and y being whatever is displayed. shift and button 3 in my case.

Pressing key x and clicking with button y on the name of a plugin should
remove the plugin. If it doesn't try and change x and y.

Yes using the same x and y combination as above, although I've found
automation editing pretty buggy at the moment.

Yes it does work although the visualization of it doesn't seem to work
properly for me. The points are in the wrong place and the points disappear
when you zoom.

Add a plugin to a mixer strip/channel and open the edit dialogue for it.

Press play/roll or hit spacebar.

Click on "arec" next the the control you want to automate.

Move control around or whatever.

Deselect arec so it isn't red when you want to stop recording the
automation.

Select "aplay" next to the control you were just recording and also
select the "automation" button at the top of the plugin window(next to the
bybass button).

Stop the transport and return playhead back to the position you started
recording the automation at and roll the transport/play.

Use the edit key/button combination on the tempo marker at the start of
the timeline. For me this is control and button 3.

Yes it is, I think this might be in the faq. Click and drag the names of the
tracks in the track name display to the left of the main edit canvas.

I think the brush copy mode would be good for what you describe unfortunately
it doesn't seem to work at the moment. I haven't been using ardour lately so
I'm not sure when it stopped working or if it just something I'm not doing
right. I'll have to look into it when I have time.
