You need to install all the prequisite software mentioned in the
BUILD file.  What linux distribution are you using?  If RedHat,
you should check out http://ccrma-www.stanford.edu/planetccrma/software/
for easy to install binary packages of all these prerequisites.

Hopefully within the next few months there will be a binary distribution
of ardour too.
