Since you are a Gentoo'er you can emerge swh-plugins. You just insert them using the context menu on the black boxes in the mixer strips. Ctrl-Click 'controls' them and Shift-Click 'shifts them away'. Although that hasn't been working for me in awhile. HTH. --ant p.s.
