Subject: [Ardour-users] Did something change with monitoring/metering??

after a month or two away from the studio, I had a rockin new year's eve
of my own the other night and had some folks come over to play. I set
everything up to hit record when the time was right, but at the crucial
moment.... nothing. I didn't want to spend my NYE being a geek, so it
all went unrecorded (which was a good thing in some spots!).

This morning I sat down and realized that the first problem was that I had
no monitoring options checked. Without software monitoring on, I would
never get my main mixer channels audible through the monitor speakers.
That was easy enough to figure out once the pressure was off!

But now I'm confused about something, because I think I've missed a
paradigm shift along the way (or maybe I've just dropped my clutch).

I am unable to get any metering happening at the time of recording.
As soon as I rec-enable a track, the meters on that track stop working.
This is doubleplusungood! Is there a new option or switch I have
to pull to turn this back on?

Thanks...
