I know another mandrake user (9.2) with the same behavior, the xserver exit 
(or the guys said the computer rebooted?)...
But what is funny is that the problem gone away when he switched to the 
contrib rpm instead of the thac'ones ....
Could you try to unlock the "Ver Num" key (for the keypad) before launching 
ardour ? I suspect that it has a weird interaction not only with context menu 
in ardour but probably when it loads too.
