Hope you don't mind but I would like to ask an Off Topic question
regarding your hardware setup (last one for me):

Speakers: Right now I'm just using some cheap Altec Lansing computer
speakers for my monitors and wanting to upgrade (as I use Ardour). I
have some adapter cables that let me go from my Delta 66 1/4" jacks to a
stereo miniplug for those speakers. I would also like to be able to use
headphones for when my SO is not wanting to listen to me edit.

So my thought was to go for some Edirol MA 20D's, as they have a
headphone jack on the front of them that mutes the speakers. But as I
read reviews, I thought I might spring for a little better monitor..
maybe a different active (powered) one such as Behringer Truth's or
maybe use my carvin amp with unpowered ones, like the Tannoy Reveal's
(not sure I want a big old amp cluttering up the work area though and
not sure I want to afford the active Tannoys.) But I'm wondering what
you all do for monitoring.. How do I go from speakers to headphones?
Good monitor suggestions for the neighborhood of around $300 - $600 or
thereabouts? Cabling: balanced TSR 1/4" or regular 1/4" speaker cables -
or how do you go from XLR (balanced cable connections to better
monitors) to the 1/4" Delta jacks - with high Z converters?

Maybe someone could email me a nice little setup they are using with
these type of questions answered?

I would appreciate it. /jim
