Bummer.  It's damn difficult.  

There is a realtime monitor program that some people use.  I haven't
needed it yet, so can't say much about it.  But, it's quite small,
I'll append a copy to this message.

Some questions:

  * What JACK and JAMin parameters did you use?  What versions?
  * Are you running as root or with capabilities?
  * With or without the DSP thread?
  * Is this machine an SMP?  
  * What ALSA driver?  
  * Was it definitely a runaway realtime thread and not the kernel?
  * Did the power conservation come before or after the hang?
