    APM may or may not do things to your device on a suspend. For things like
    ACPI and PCI bus power management 2.2.x doesnt deal with this. 2.3.x now
    has code in it to handle basic stuff

    What specifically are you after. The kernel allows you to register power
    management callbacks so you will be told when a suspend occurs and when a
    resume occurs
