I must echo the experience of Horst von Brand (vonbrand@sleipnir.valparaiso.cl)
with the report that under 2.3.99-pre6-3 when trying to mount an ATAPI
CD-Rom drive the following error gets returned:

    mount /cdrom/
mount: /dev/hda is not a valid block device

this is with the following entry in fstab:

    /dev/hda /cdrom iso9660 ro,noauto,user 0 0

    lsmod shows:

    Module Size Used by
    cdrom 27004 0 (unused)
    isofs 21560 0 (autoclean)
    opl3 11816 0 (autoclean) (unused)
