            I compiled 2.3.99-pre6 with pppoed-0.47 and netfilter-1.0 patches,
    with my ethernet dirver built in the kernel (3c503). The kernel booted,
    but would not recognize more than 1 of the cards (I have 4, and I append
    "ether=9,0x250,0,1,eth0 ether=3,0x330,0,1,eth1 ether=4,0x300,0,0,eth2
    ether=5,0x310,0,1,eth3" this to the kernel args in lilo to attempt to use
    all 4 cards. (only the one at 0x330 is initialized).

            So I recompiled the kernel on a fresh tree, with the only change
    to the configuration being the 3c503 being compiled as a module. When I
    rebooted with this kernel, lilo would load the kernel, and it would get as
    far as

    Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel.

            After that, within a second or two it would reboot, no more
    messages. Attached is the failing .config file and the dmesg of a
    succesful boot (I use 2.3.48).

            Regards,
