I think everyone who uses the 3c59x.c in 2216pre2 will hang.
The reason for that is in vortex_timer.
For now you can add a if clause around this snippet at the end of vortex_timer.
if (next_tick) { <--- to be added
vp->timer.expires = RUN_AT(next_tick);
add_timer(&vp->timer);
} <--- to be added
