Hello: I hate to take up your time with this, but:

Under none of the 2.3.x versions of the kernel can I get my Multisound
Classic sound card to work, either as a loadable module, or compiled into
the kernel. Under 2.2.14 it works fine, both ways.

I've sent e-mails to Andrew Veliath <andrewtv@usa.net> but I'm not sure
if he's still maintaining the driver; there doesn't seem to have been any updates
    since 1998.

Bear with me here, be gentle: if I had the expertise to debug this at the level
that Mr Torvalds suggests is necessary (in the oops doc), I'd be able to fix
    it myself.

Here is the output of dmesg, including the oops file:

This was with (as you see) the driver compiled into the kernel. I've tried
moving the "memory window" for the driver around, but the same thing
happens. This has been the case since I first started playing with the 2.3.x
kernel, sometime arount 2.3.35. The driver and card and the resident firmware
are found at bootup, and the dsp gets happily reset.

This is an ancient sound card, and I can certainly replace it cheaply, but I thought
that you should be aware of this problem.

Thanks for all the time and effort you spend in creating GNU/Linux!
