    Problem description:
    ====================
    Getting error messages in /var/log/messages relating to the IDE cdrom
    device whenever I eject/load a CD (music/audio or data - doesn't matter
    which one). Messages in question are:

    The messages only appear in the log file when the CD is ejected from or
    loaded into the CD-ROM drive, not when the audio tracks are played or
    when the data CD is mounted/unmounted.

    Never had this problem with 2.2.15, only with 2.2.16.

    Linux System information:
    =========================
    Debian GNU/Linux 2.3 (woody)

    Kernel Version:
    ===============
    @phoenix:[/home/ssahmed] cat /proc/version
    Linux version 2.2.16 (root@phoenix) (gcc version 2.95.2 20000313 (Debian GNU/Linux)) #1 Thu Jun 8 20:44:12 EDT 2000

    Kernel Patches:
    ===============
    I have patched the kernel with the lm-sensors2 sources.

    Hardware:
    =========
    Intel Celeron 300A overclocked to 450Mhz
    128 MB 100MHz RAM
    Quantum 10.2 Gb UDMA HD
    Creative Labs 52x IDE CD-ROM drive (connected as master on the second
    IDE channel/port)
    Matrox Millennium G200 8MB Video card
    Creative Labs PCI128 sound card

    Workaround/Fix:
    ===============
    Switch back to kernel-2.2.15. That lets me play my music/audio CDs
    without getting any messages of the above type.
